Christmas is a time for generosity and this year we want to give those we support in South Africa the chance to do something they ordinarily wouldn’t have the opportunity to do.

In South Africa, most people with intellectual disability or mental illness live in an institution. On a practical level, living in an institution takes away people’s ability to make simple life choices and means the people we support struggle to take part in activities that you or I wouldn’t think twice about.

With input from our partners on the ground in South Africa, as well as the people we support, we’ve created a gift list of experiences. This could be going to the movies, participating in a series of craft and art lessons or simply getting the support needed to write a letter to keep in touch with friends or family.
