Our Projects

Transforming services

Climb Any Mountain is committed to accelerating the transformation of services from institutional to person-centred practices in South Africa, by facilitating the sharing of best practice and funding the development and capability of service providers. We have partnered with Mencap to deliver programmes that assess the baseline provision of services within organisations in South Africa, and develop bespoke programmes to build capability to deliver person-centred practices. Transforming physical spaces

Although we know that a great space is not sufficient in itself to ensure good quality of life outcomes for people, we also know that the space in which someone lives goes a long way towards empowering and enabling someone to live independently and have the room to exercise choice and control over their life. Over the last 20 years, the move from institutional to supported community based care has been a challenge for many organizations, countries and service providers. Our dream is to transform not only the services within South Africa, but also the spaces in which people live. We see a world where there are no longer institutional buildings, but creative wholesome environments for people to flourish.   More

The Pietermaritzburg TLC

Working with the Pietermaritzburg Mental Health Society, Climb Any Mountain has designed a unique, purpose-built residential facility that not only provides a safe supported living space for people with learning disabilities and mental illness, but also aids the development of social and life skills.

We have called the facility The Transitional Living Centre (TLC) as it aims to provide a stepping stone for individuals as they move from institutional to community-based care, having achieved their personal goals of attaining the life skills necessary to live independently. More

Why South Africa

Climb Any Mountain was started by Kim Crossman in August 2011, after Kim and her family set off on a personal journey searching for a suitable residential care facility in South Africa for Kim’s younger sister, Cara.  The realisation that there was a severe lack of options that would provide Cara with the opportunity to live a full life inspired Kim start our charity.
