Climb Any Mountain,  referred to as “We” “Us”, “Our” is a not-for-profit, voluntary organisation working towards transforming the living conditions for people with intellectual disability and mental illnesses in South Africa.

We are registered with the UK Charity Commission: 1149311.

To help us to promote our charitable objects we will sometimes ask you to provide certain personal information.

We are committed to maintaining and safeguarding the privacy of our website visitors. Your privacy is extremely important to us and this Privacy Notice explains what information we may collect, how we will use this information, the steps we take to protect that information and confirms your rights in respect of that information.

This Notice should be read alongside our Terms & Conditions. Please also note that this Privacy Notice only applies to personal information obtained by us – not information collected from your interactions with any third parties.

We are fully committed to the principles of data protection and for the purposes of the Data Protection Act 1998, and the European Union General Data Protection Regulations.

Climb Any Mountain is the data controller (the organisation responsible for controlling the processing of your personal data).

 

When do we collect information about you?

  • When you visit our website to make a donation by filling out a donation web form
  • When you create an account with us and use your account to buy products
  • When you make an online purchase and check out as a guest (in which case we just collect transaction-based data).

  • When you enter prize draws or our register for our fundraising events.
  • When you choose to complete any surveys, polls or feedback forms we send you.
  • When you fill in any forms on our website, for example, subscribe to our newsletter

How we use the information we collect

Information we collect about you as a visitor to the website

When you use this website, we may collect information (usage data) about your computer, such as your IP address and/or browser which we will use for administration purposes and statistical analysis. We may also gather information about the use of our website, such as which pages users visit and which ones are of most interest.

We collect this data via Google Analytics and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website (i.e. the data is anonymised). The information collected this way is only used to monitor and improve our website visitors’ experiences.

Information we collect from you when you register for an event or subscribe to our newsletter

As part of the registration process for our events or subscription to our newsletter, we may collect your name, email address, personal account preferences. We use that information for a couple of reasons: to send you information about, our events, our progress and other newsworthy information about Climb Any Mountain we feel you may be interested in.

We use a third-party provider, MailPoet, to deliver our newsletter. We gather statistics around email opening and clicks using industry standard technologies to help us monitor and improve our e-newsletter. We don’t rent or trade email lists with other organisations and businesses.

You can unsubscribe to general mailings at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any of our emails.

Information we collect from you when you make a donation or purchases using this website

If you make a donation or pledge or a purchase using this website, we collect your full name, your credit or debit card details (including card information) email address and your billing address.

We will only use your card details for processing your donation or purchases via our payment partners (for example PayPal). This information is only used only to the extent necessary for the purposes of processing, refunding or dealing with your enquiries about your payments.

If you are in the UK and have made a gift aid declaration, we will ensure that this is passed to the HM Revenue and Customs for the purpose of reclaiming tax. Your gift aid declaration includes your name and home address, which may be different from your billing address, along with the confirmation that you are paying sufficient amount of tax for the current tax year.

Security

We take appropriate measures to ensure that the personal information disclosed to us is kept secure from access by unauthorised persons and against unlawful processing, accidental loss, destruction, and damage.

However, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you disclose during your activities whilst online and that you accept as a User of the Website and the Services, the inherent security risks of providing information over the Internet and will not hold us responsible for any breach of security outside of our direct control, unless this is due to our negligence or willful act. You, where applicable are responsible for keeping your password and user details confidential. We will not ask you for your password (except when you log in to the website).

We also ensure that your information is accurate and up to date and kept only for so long as is necessary for the purposes for which it is used.

Climb Any Mountain does not rent or sell mailing details to any third party.

If reasonably necessary or required to meet legal or regulatory requirements, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and abuse, or enforce our Terms & Conditions, we may also keep hold of some of your information as required, even after you have requested deletion or it is no longer needed to provide the services to you.

Our legitimate and justifiable reasons under the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)

Where we:

  • Respond to customer service enquiries
  • Conduct postal delivery. We share your personal information with a variety of third-party postal providers who assist us in delivering your purchases eg Christmas cards to you, including the post office.
  • Collect Anonymous track usage statistics on our site using Google Analytics. By using this information, we are able to measure the effectiveness of our content and how visitors use our site and this  allows us to learn what pages you visit most and make them more relevant to you
  • Run the test versions of our website that we use internally to pilot new features and ensure the smooth running of our web services.
  • Keep our database accurate and relevant
  • Detect and reduce fraud and credit risk.

Keeping your information

 We’ll only hold on to your information for as long as you are subscribed to us as a friend and supporter of Climb Any Mountain. If you no longer wish to be subscribed, you can also contact us and request that we delete all the information we have on you.

If reasonably necessary or required to meet legal or regulatory requirements, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and abuse, or enforce our Terms & Conditions, we may also keep hold of some of your information as required, even after you have closed your account or it is no longer needed to provide the services to you.

Your Access and Rights relating to your personal information

  • The right to access the personal information we hold about you
  • The right to request the correction of inaccurate personal information we hold about you
  • The right to request that we delete your data, or stop processing it or collecting it, in some circumstances

  • The right to request that we transfer or port elements of your data either to you or another service provider
  • The right to complain to your data protection regulator — in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office

You can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us.

You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
